For GOP, border visits are only a ‘political stunt’ when Harris goes

Republicans are attacking plans by Vice President Kamala Harris to visit the U.S.-Mexico border, despite years of complaining that Democratic leaders needed to visit the area more.

Harris reportedly plans to visit the border on Friday as part of a campaign trip to Arizona.

In response, Donald Trump wrote, “After almost four years, Border Czar Kamala Harris has decided, for political reasons, that it’s time for her to go to our broken Southern Border.”

“She is not going when it was at its height. She's going to probably get a totally cleaned-up photo op,” Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas complained to Fox News. Roy also described Harris’ upcoming trip as a political stunt.

Republicans have frequently complained that Democrats like Harris and President Joe Biden should visit the border, but now are casting the decision in a poor light.
