They Started a Publishing Company Together

After their work in 2016, a year later the pair banded together to start a publishing company: X Artists' Books.

"XAB is a small publisher of thoughtful, high-quality, artist-centered books that fit within and between genres, according to the organization's website. "Our books are works of art; portals to imagined worlds; treasured companions; the fabric of a community. We love the same things about our books as we do about our friends: generosity, open-heartedness, intelligence, mystery, style. They bring sustenance and shift realities. They may occasionally break your heart."

The publishing house is said to produce artist-centered books that can be seen online and throughout stores in Los Angeles, Paris, and New York. Publications have included collaborations with Diane di Prima, George Herms, Eve Wood, Etel Adnan, and Lynn Marie Kirby among others.

She's a Well-Known Visual Artist

According to her website, Grant is "a Los Angeles-based artist who through an exploration of the use of text and language in various media—painting, drawing, sculpture, film, and photography—probes ideas of translation, identity, dis/location, and social responsibility. Grant frequently collaborates with other artists, writers, and philosophers, often going so far as to have specific texts written as the impetus to her intricate paintings and sculptures."

Her work has been featured in an array of galleries nationally and worldwide, including Lowell Ryan Projects in Los Angeles, Harris Lieberman Gallery in New York City, Galerie Gradiva in Paris, and Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in LA. She's been known to collaborate with an array of authors and celebrities like author Michael Joyce, artist Channing Hansen, philosopher Hélène Cixous and, of course, her beau, Reeves.

When asked in a 2019 interview with LA Weekly when she first had a feeling she wanted to be an artist Grant stated, " 'Artist' is the best word for all the things that I love to do and have been doing pretty consistently since I was a child: reading, staring into space, daydreaming, inventing symphonic-scale projects whether a chemistry experiment or growing seeds into plants, finding meaning in the patterns of bathroom tiles and cracks in the ceiling, believing in the goodness of people and love, drawing while listening to music, experiencing language as images and colors, and desiring to be solitary while doing most of the above."

In an interview with People, Grant gushed about how her work has changed since dating Reeves stating. "I had a studio visit a few years ago, and this very kind, very high-level person said, 'I can see that your work has gotten happier.’ That's real. We're all human beings. We're animals. We're expressing from where we are and certainly feeling happier. I think the work is happier.”

She’s Not an LA Native

Despite her popularity in the Los Angeles art scene, Grant isn't an LA native. In fact, she's been a bit of a nomad, with significant periods of her childhood spent in Mexico, France, and Spain, as well as Fairview Park, OH, where her father was a geology professor at Oberlin College. Her mother, on the other hand, is said to have been a political science professor, foreign service diplomat, and educational administrator based in both Africa and the Middle East, hence her time spent outside the United States.

"I grew up in part in Mexico City, Washington, D.C., and Paris, moving between languages and cultures," Grant told LA Weekly. "Los Angeles felt like home from the moment I first arrived in 1995, especially the diversity of people, idioms, foods, and plants (like jacaranda and bougainvillea)."

Reeves and Grant Made Their Red Carpet Debut in 2019

While rumors were flowing about Reeves' and Grant's relationship for years prior, the two confirmed their status when they made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in 2019. In an interview with People a few months later a source close to the pair stated that “Keanu wants to openly share his life with her. He is extremely happy and grateful to have Alex in his life.”

The insider also stated that they “started dating earlier this year, but have wanted to keep it quiet.”

Given that they both seem to be pretty private people, it doesn't come as a shock that Grant had mixed emotions about their decision to go public.

“I think every single person I knew called me in the first week of November, and that’s fascinating,” she said in a 2019 interview with Vogue. “But the question I’ve been asking in all of this is: ‘What is the opportunity for good?’ ”

They're Both Philanthropists

Reeves is known to be one of the most generous people in Hollywood, so it wasn't a surprise to find out the two have that in common. According to various sources, The Matrix actor has donated millions of dollars to varying charities throughout his time as a star. While he's more of a silent philanthropist, some of the organizations include PETA, the SickKids Foundation, Stand Up To Cancer, and more.

Grant, on the other hand, founded the grantLOVE project, an art project started to help raise awareness and money for various art nonprofits like Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) and Project Angel Food through the gift and sale of her artwork.

Alexandra Grant's Net Worth

Most people's net worths won't hold a candle to Keanu Reeves' rumored $380 million and while he gives a good chunk of change to charity each year, it's no shock his many top flicks like The Matrix and John Wick series have earned him a pretty penny. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Grant's net worth sits somewhere around the $500,000 thousand mark which makes perfect sense given her charity work, time as a professor, and work as an artist.
