‘Bewakoof tu nahi mai hu’, Big revelation from fellow player about MS Dhoni, conveys the story of 2019
New Delhi: MS Dhoni, the most successful captain of Indian cricket and in the IPL, won three ICC trophies and led Chennai Super Kings to the title 5 times. This veteran came to be known as ‘Captain Cool’ for his coolness on the cricket ground. However, there have been many occasions when Dhoni has been seen losing his temper or getting angry on the field. One such incident was shared by Mohit Sharma, who played IPL for the Chennai Super Kings under his captaincy. He told about the incident of 2019 when Dhoni told one of his own bowlers, ‘You are not a fool, I am a fool’. Let us know what was the whole matter.
Former CSK fast bowler Mohit Sharma said, ‘We have heard a lot from him (Dhoni), but he always says that what happens on the field, stays there. He will explain to you later, but will never get angry. I have heard a lot from him. Being a fast bowler you lose your focus. Pay attention to what’s happening behind you. If he waves at you and you are looking somewhere else. If someone says something in public and you react to it. Because of things like this, I have had to hear from him a lot.’
Mohit Sharma recalled an incident from IPL 2019 and said, ‘Deepak Chahar has also been heard a lot. He also has a story. In 2019, Deepak was playing a match and I was not. The match was in Chennai and everyone was sweating a lot. He bowled a knuckle ball which I think was a full toss or something, which resulted in a four or a six. Dhoni bhai told him not to bowl such a ball again. He said, ‘Okay Mahi bhai’ After bowling the next 2-3 balls, he again bowled a knuckle ball, which this time went over the batsman’s head.’
‘Bewakoof tu nahi mai hu’:
Mohit Sharma further said, ‘Mahi bhai came to him, put his hand on Deepak’s shoulder, talked to him and went back. Obviously, we did not know what happened. So when the match was over, we asked what happened? He said, ‘Do you know what he said? He told something and then he said ‘Bewakoof tu nahi hai, bewakoof main hun’. So this is a story that we always remember. However, Dhoni bhai also loves Chahar equally.’
Mohit Sharma played under Dhoni’s leadership:
Mohit has played under Dhoni in two different stints with CSK. Between 2013 and 2015 and in 2019. In the first three seasons, Mohit took a total of 57 wickets and in the rest, he took 12 more wickets. With 69 wickets, he is the sixth-highest wicket-taker for Chennai Super Kings.
