‘No Marathi & Muslims…’, Mumbai ticket collector’s audio went viral; netizens express anger, listen full conversation

A Western Railway ticket collector’s audio clip went viral, in which he made derogatory remarks about Muslim and Maharashtrian communities. The 49-second clip, shared widely on social media platform X, can be heard, the ticket collector, named as Ashish Pande from Mumbai’s Vikhroli area, passed these comments.

The ticket collector said,  ”I don’t give business to Muslims & Maharasthrians. I don’t sit in autos of Muslims & Maharashtrians.’’ The audio clip has triggered widespread outrage, with many condemning the discriminatory and offensive comments. 

Netizens Uproar Over Audio

User named, ‘violet gracias’ on social media platform ‘X’ said ‘’He is earning in the land of Maharashtra ..and he is saying that he doesn’t want to sit in the auto rickshaw of the Maharashtrians  and he doesn’t like Muslims …Vacate this Man out of Maharashtra and close down his business ..He can go to U.P and do his work there.’’

Another user named Spoilerking Zain said, ‘’He is living in Maharashtra, Living safely beside maharashtrian and muslim , earning for his family from maharashtra government yet he has such hate towards maharashtrian and muslim !!!in last two decades people are emerging towards hates bcoz of hate speeches in political rally.’’

User named BakBak said, ‘’When he is living in Maharashtra, how can he live without giving business to Maharashtrians, including hindus too? As a govt official, this goes against him as per Conduct Rules.’’

 

Railway’s Strict Action Against Ticket Collector

In response to the public outcry, Western Railway took swift action by suspending Pande and announcing a thorough investigation into the matter. Railway authorities emphasized their commitment to maintaining service integrity and holding their employees accountable for their behavior.

‘’We take this matter very seriously. The staff commenting adversely about the religious community and Maharashtrians has been suspended immediately, pending an inquiry. 

A thorough investigation will be conducted to ensure accountability. Appropriate actions will be determined based on the findings to uphold our standards and ensure the integrity of our services.’’
