Musk and Meloni: Tech billionaire Elon Musk finally broke his silence on the “rumors” about him ‘dating’ Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with an emphatic “we are not dating” response to a post on X, a social media platform owned by the Tesla CEO.

Rumors started floating on social media sites after pictures of Musk and Meloni at an award ceremony in New York went viral, with users speculating the two were ‘dating’.

Elon Musk presented the Atlantic Council Global Citizen Award to Giorgia Meloni at a gala event held in New York City on Tuesday, terming the Italian Prime Minister as “authentic, honest, truthful”, and “someone I admire”.

“It is an honour to present this award to someone who is even more beautiful on the inside than she was on the outside. Giorgia Meloni is someone I admire, who has done an incredible job as the Prime Minister of Italy,” Musk had said while presenting the award to Meloni.

“She’s also someone who is authentic, honest, truthful – and that can’t always be said about politicians,” the Tesla CEO added.

Giorgia Meloni also responded with a series of posts on X, thanking Musk for adoration and comments about her.

“I thank Elon Musk, for the beautiful words that he had for me and for his precious genius for the era in which we live.” Meloni said on X.

The back-and-forth compliments, coupled with the photos which depicted Musk and Meloni looking at each other in an “adoring” manner, sparked social media speculations that they were ‘dating’.

However, Musk shut down the rumors, asserting that he and Meloni are “not dating”.

Giorgia Meloni was bestowed the Atlantic Council Global Citizen Award at a gala event in New York on Tuesday “for her strong support of the EU and becoming the first female prime minister of Italy”, according to an official release.
