Curator Promises an Exciting Showdown: Kanpur Pitch Set to Entertain
The second Test between India and Bangladesh will have a perfect five-day pitch, according to the curator of Green Park, which would help pacers during the opening two sessions and spinners over the final three days.
It is planned for the Test to start on Friday.
“That Chennai match vibe will be present. Everyone will find something to enjoy in it. It will be reasonably decent for batting for the first two days and will provide bounce in the first two sessions. The final three days will see the spinners come into action, curator Shiv Kumar told PTI.
In the first Test, which was played in Chennai, India had crushed Bangladesh by 280 runs.
As usual, the black soil used for the Green Park pitch comes from Kali Mitti hamlet, which is 23 miles from Kanpur and close to Unnao.
Traditionally, red soil benefits pacers, whereas black soil pitches benefit spinners. Pitch action is anticipated to be slow and low.
“The Indian Institute of Technology tests this dirt for us. This unique soil is located in the village of Kali Mitti, next to a pond. We have been doing this (moving black soil from the community) for years,” a UPCA representative stated.
In an effort to preserve the environment, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has made the decision to significantly cut back on plastic usage during the second Test.
Paper plates are the only ones that can be used for snack serving within the stadium; plastic plates are prohibited by the UPCA.
“We are trying to make this a ‘green’ match, and it is taking place in Green Park. We’ve made the decision to use as little plastic as possible,” Sanjay Kapur, director of the stadium, stated.
