The star names will be available on the Meta AI chatbot on apps including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp from this week.

At present, the technology can engage in text chats and generate images in response to prompts.

But Meta is expected to unveil a more powerful version when it confirms the celebrity tie-up at a conference today.

Bond actress Dame Judi, Frozen voice star Kristen Bell, 44, and wrestler-turned-Suicide Squad star John Cena, 47, will be among voice options for users, alongside rapper and actress Awkwafina, 36, and US TV actor Keegan-Michael Key, 53, as well as several generic voices.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a promotional video featuring John Cena last week.

The company is in a race with Microsoft-backed Chat-GPT maker OpenAI and Google to dominate the emerging technology.

In May, Scarlett Johansson accused OpenAI of making its chatbot sound like her after she declined to take part.

What is Meta AI?

You may have spotted Meta AI on your social media feed - here's how it works:

Meta AI is a conversational artificial intelligence tool, also known as a chatbot.

It responds to a user’s questions in a similar fashion to competitors like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot.

Meta AI is what’s known as generative AI, so-called due to its ability to generate content. It can produced text or images in response to a user’s request.

The tool is trained on data that’s available online. It can mimic patterns commonly found in human language as it provides responses.

Meta AI appears on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, where it launches a chat when a question is sent.
