Niagara Falls woman pleads guilty to fentanyl charge in connection with overdose death of mother
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Niagara Falls woman was sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to a fentanyl charge involving the overdose death of her mother, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
Ranique Davis, 31, was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, fentanyl, officials said.
On April 22, 2021, police responded to a call at a South Street residence in Lockport and discovered Davis's mother and stepfather unconscious and unresponsive. Authorities said they suffered from fentanyl overdoses.
Davis's stepfather survived by being revived with Narcan, but Davis's mother couldn't be revived and was pronounced deceased, officials said. The cause of death was found to be acute fentanyl intoxication.
Davis spoke with her stepfather through a cell phone earlier in the night and agreed to provide Percocet pills, which contained fentanyl, according to the attorney's office. Davis and two co-conspirators drove to the residence and sold Davis's stepfather four fake pills, which were shared with Davis's mother, officials said.
Authorities said after Davis's stepfather and mother took the pills, they both lost consciousness.
Davis was sentenced to time served and three years' probation.
