One more player to skip Gashimov Memorial 2024
The Vugar Gashimov Memorial 2024 is a 8-player round-robin tournament, held from the 26th to the 27th of September in Shusha, Azerbaijan. Yesterday, Hans Niemann announced that he was going to play but certain players complained, they revoked his invitation. Today, a second player announced that he will not be playing the Vugar Gashimov Memorial 2024. This is Olympic champion with India in the Open section – Vidit Santosh Gujrathi.
Vidit explains, “reached Baku and I got to know our Hon’ble PM wants to felicitate the Indian team. I was overjoyed when I heard this and I wanted to be a part of it. It’s amazing at how such short notice he is taking out time for us. I contacted Sarkhan Gashimov (organiser) and he understood”, Vidit will be replaced by Aravindh Chithambaram.
