Scotia PD arrests 14-year-old for making mass harm threat
SCOTIA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Scotia Police Department announced the arrest of a 14-year-old following a threat that was made toward a school. The juvenile was charged with making a threat of mass harm.
Officers say they were alerted of a school threat at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday by the FBI and State Police. According to police, the threat was posted to TikTok stating "im gonna shoot up ur school."
Police report that they were able to trace the threat to a home in Scotia through the device's IP address. Officers contacted a 14-year-old and their parents, who the police say were cooperative.
The parents voluntarily removed two guns from the home for safekeeping even though they were not the juveniles, according to police. The police department says the teen was issued an appearance ticket and that there is no additional threat to safety at the school.
