Paphos police arrest man wanted for fraud in Germany
A man wanted by the German authorities for an investigated case of fraud involving thousands of euros, is to appear before court on Wednesday to begin his extradition procedure.
Paphos police arrested the 68-year-old on Tuesday around 3.20pm, assistant police chief Michalis Nikolaou, said. The man had arrived at the Paphos airport around 10.30am intending to depart the island.
During the passport check, officers determined that the suspect had a pending arrest warrant from German authorities for a fraud committed between 2015-2018, through which he had allegedly illegally extracted €40,483.
A local warrant was issued against the suspect and he was arrested.
