New Delhi: Virat Kohli and the Kanpur hotel staff, where the Indian team are being put, had an ‘oops’ moment on Tuesday when the former Indian captain wasn’t able to shake hands during the welcome pleasantries. The incident took place when the Indian players entered the hotel. Always the fan favourite, a group of people (presumably top hotel officials), was present beforehand to welcome the star Indian batter.

Among them, one presented Kohli with a bouquet of flowers which the 35-year-old accepted gleefully and said ‘thank you’. Just then another official approached Kohli to shake hands. But with a bag in one hand and the flower bouquet in the other, Kohli was left with no other choice and said: ‘Sir, do hi haath hain (I have two hands only).”

Meanwhile, India are coming after an emphatic 280-run win over Bangladesh in the first Test in Chennai. Local boy Ravichandran Ashwin was the star of the show with a century in the first innings and a match-winning 6/88 in the second innings. Besides Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja starred with both bat and ball while the likes of Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant sparkled with respective hundreds in the second innings. Jasprit Bumrah also took five wickets in the match including a four-fer in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal chipped in with a fifty too in the first essay.

However, it was no show from the likes of Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma. On the other hand, Najmul Hossain Shanto’s valiant 82 in the second innings and Hasan Mahmud’s five-wicket haul in the first were the only two positives for Bangladesh in the first Test.
