Royals snap losing streak with 1-0 win in extras
THEY SCORED A RUN!
After a week of losing baseball, the Royals found a way to win in extras with a 1-0 victory over the Nationals. The win snaps a seven-game slide that began last Sunday.
The game was nothing but a pitcher’s duel for the first nine innings. Cole Ragans shoved for six scoreless innings and Washington starter Mitchell Parker shut out Kansas City in five innings of work.
Unlike Ragans, Parker dealt with a lot of danger on the bases. In the top of the first, he loaded the bases with nobody out. However, he danced out of it with a lineout that turned into a double play and a nifty play on a grounder back to the mound.
Both bullpens were phenomenal. The Nationals received four scoreless frames after Parker exited and the Royals got zeroes from Bubic, Long, and Zerpa — sending the game to extras.
In the top of the 10th, the Royals found a way to snap their 27-inning scoreless streak. On a slow roller off the bat of Bobby Witt Jr, Washington booted the play — allowing Kyle Isbel to score from third.

In the bottom half, Lucas Erceg slammed the door. Though, not without dramatics. Joey Gallo came feet from walking off the game on a long fly ball to right field. However, it drifted foul. On the next pitch, Erceg blew 99 mph by him to end the game.
The Royals, 83-74, will go for a series win tomorrow. Michael Lorenzen makes his return against DJ Herz. First pitch is set for 5:45 p.m. CT.
