Lasio Hair Care CEO, brings hope with Lower East Side return

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Nadine Ramos, the CEO of Lasio Professional Hair Care, got her start in foster care.

Growing up in public housing, she made a multi-million dollar beauty business.

She went back to her childhood neighborhood on the Lower East Side to talk about her extraordinary life and has a powerful message of hope for others with PIX11’s Monica Morales.

On the corner of the Lower East Side just off Ave C, everybody seems to know Nadine Ramos. Ramos is the CEO and founder of Lasio professional hair care, which means silky smooth hair in Spanish.

The company is valued at $ 25 million and growing.

She launched her multimillion-dollar hair care brand inside her NYCHA apartment. It’s been 15 years since she last visited. PIX11 News went with her. Ramos says it’s nice to be back and feel all the love. Ramos admits it was a tough journey to make it happen.

As a Latina, her love of good hair inspired her to break into the beauty business.

At the age of 19, she went to a salon in Queens. A Brazilian hair treatment sparked her journey into entrepreneurship. She worked with a chemist and developed a revolutionary smoothing hair treatment.

Her products flew off the shelves because they were affordable hair treatments that could be done at home; they would cost hundreds of dollars in the salon.

Now, inspired by her two sons, she has launched a new product line, a more natural and sustainable hair care brand made of banana oils.

Ramos says what saved her was her faith, resilience, and the love of her community.
