New Harley Quinn to Drop New Album, Harlequin
The clamor over Lady Gaga’s fiancé telling her to make pop music again couldn’t have anticipated her next release to be a concept album of standards. Must be why it’s only project number 6.5. Gaga told her Little Monsters on September 24 that she has a new album impending on September 27. Called Harlequin, it is a “companion album” to Joker 2, in which she plays Harley Quinn. The tracklist, which is available on streaming, teases a slew of standards like “Get Happy” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now.” But there’s also some tracks like “The Joker,” which could be a cover of the 1972 Steve Miller Band song or could just be a new track. In the lead-up to the album being official, Gaga teased the upcoming record billboards that read “LG 6.5,” implying that this amounts to half a record, since Chromatica was her sixth album. In the future, we hope to learn what other fractions of Gaga albums sound like — maybe a 0.75 album would be kind of slay.
