Man charged in hit-and-run of UAlbany student released on bond
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Austin Breyette, the man accused of hitting a UAlbany student with an illegal dirt bike, has been released from jail on bond. Officials at the Albany County Jail told NEWS10 that Breyette was released on Tuesday.
Breyette allegedly hit UAlbany student Alexa Kropf on Hudson Avenue with an illegal dirt bike back in April. He then left the scene of the crash.
In June, Breyette pleaded not guilty to second-degree assault, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, and tampering with physical evidence. At that time, he was remanded to the Albany County Jail with bail set at $100,000 cash, $100,000 bond, or $200,000 partially secured bond.
Kropf suffered serious injuries from the crash and underwent multiple surgeries and rehabilitation. Alexa's father previously told NEWS10 that she started the new semester online and is hoping to return to the UAlbany campus next month.
