University of Portland ranked among 2025's top schools in the west by US News and World Report
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The University of Portland was ranked among the best regional schools in the western United States in 2025, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report.
University of Portland ranked second overall among 115 regional universities in the west -- marking the sixth time in a row the school has been ranked in the top three spots by the outlet.

Kelly, PhD. “From our best-in-state graduation rate, to our exceptional career and graduate school outcomes, to our outstanding student satisfaction scores, UP’s superb Catholic, Holy Cross education is having a transformational impact on the lives of our students.”
U.S. News & World Report ranked the schools on several factors including academics, student diversity, campus life, and median starting salary of alumni.
University of Portland was additionally ranked number two by the outlet for its undergraduate teaching programs among western regional universities.
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; San Jose State University, and St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas round out the top five best regional universities in the west.
