Serena Williams Brought Her Nike x Jean Paul Gaultier Sneakers to the Countryside
Serena Williams took her talents to the ranch in her latest Instagram post.
Captioning the photo “From Compton to Country,” Williams dressed in a layered mesh minidress over a pair of geometric-printed biker shorts. She leaned against a wooded fence in a stunning green field, while horses could be spotted in the background.
While others would have opted for a cowboy boot for the ocassion, the tennis icon kicked back in the Nike Vaporwaffle sacai Jean Paul Gaultier Black White, a collaborative effort between Jean Paul Gaultier, sacai, and Nike. Originally, the collaborative pair was released on Feb. 22, 2022, with a retail price of $250, and now Williams is wearing them to water down some horses while on a farm.
It showcases a black and white colorway with Jean-Paul Gaultier’s influence evident in the sneaker-bootie shape with Air woven-like details throughout the shoe. This sneaker features a combination of leather, nylon, suede upper elements, and leather threads.
Ribbon laces work in harmony with regular laces, echoing the collaborative aesthetic of Nike and sacai, resulting in two tongues. Each tongue boasts two sets of branding, including dual branding on the heel and the distinctive stacked sole. Jean Paul Gaultier’s branding adorns the interior of this silhouette, adding an extra touch of exclusivity.
The layered laces, mudguard, and outsole add depth and dimension to the design. Additionally, a taller vamp gives this shoe a distinctive look with a heightened ankle opening.
Williams, a sports and fashion icon, prefers Nike, partnered with the megabrand since 2003. With 23 Grand Slam titles, her fashion sense is as notable as her athleticism. The mom of two launched her fashion line, S by Serena, in 2018 and collaborated with HSN. Her bold style, including black catsuits and neon hues, has made her a fashion-forward athlete.
