NJ Transit app not working: 'technical issues' during morning commute
NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- The NJ Transit app was not working properly during Tuesday's morning commute, according to officials.
Over 200 people reported the app was not working around 7:30 a.m. on Downdetector. NJ Transit officials said the mobile app and MyTix system had 'technical issues.' The app started working properly again just before 9 a.m., according to a spokesperson for NJ Transit.
"NJ TRANSIT is experiencing technical issues with the mobile app and MyTix. We are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience," read an alert on the transportation system's website during the outage.
Commuters reported not being able to buy tickets or access previously purchased tickets on the app Tuesday morning. Some commuters reported long lines to buy tickets at stations.
The transit system saw numerous disruptions this summer caused by overhead wire issues, power outages, and disabled trains, most of which the agency says are related to problems with Amtrak’s infrastructure.
NJ Transit’s on-time performance for June was 69%, Gov. Phil Murphy told PIX11 News in August. The minimum on-time performance the agency has had in the past was 80%.
