PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – As September 22 marked the first day of fall, Yelp curated a list of the best Portland-area cideries of all time.

Yelp identified the best cideries on a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews.

1. Cider Bite

Located in Portland's Pearl District, Cider Bite scored the number one spot on Yelp's list.

Cider Bite is a self-described "first of its kind cider house in Oregon," offering a rotating tap of 32 hard ciders and beer along with non-alcoholic sparkling apple cider.

The cider house, established in 2015, explained on their Yelp profile, "American craft cider has been enjoying something of a renaissance these days. A market once dominated by British imports, like Magners and Strongbow, now has plenty of stateside competition. It was only a matter of time before someone opened a bar in downtown Portland devoted entirely to hard cider."

Tap options include baked apple cider from D's Wicked, Bad Apple from 2 Towns, and Bauman's bourbon vanilla cider.

2. The Place

Scoring the number two spot on the list: The Place, on Portland's Southeast Powell Boulevard.

The dry cider-focused bottle shop and bar has a 4.9-star rating on Yelp -- offering a selection of cider, hard seltzer, beer and wine.

“We offer a unique selection of international and hard-to-find dry ciders, beers, natural wines and other alcoholic beverages. In other words, you will definitely find something you like,” the business said on Yelp.

3. Salt Creek Cider House

Outside of the Portland metro area, Salt Creek Cider House in Dallas, Oregon scored the number three spot on the list of all-time best cideries.

Established in 2019, the cider house boasts “the Willamette Valley’s best cider” with country views and a heated patio to enjoy on fall days.

“At Salt Creek Cider House we believe in orchard fresh hard cider. We make small batch hand-crafted hard cider made from fruit on our farm and those next to us. Our ciders are dry, no sugar added,” the cider house said on Yelp.

Flagship ciders include "Freedom" apple cider, "Rebel Rose" cider with apple, pear, and marionberry, along with seasonal offerings such as an apple cider aged in whiskey barrels, and a spiced apple cider soaked in nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon sticks.

4. Portland Cider Company

Portland Cider Company's Clackamas taproom ranked fourth on the list -- offering a seasonal line including passion orange guava, pumpkin spice, and cranberry mule ciders.

"Portland Cider Company makes the best cider in the Pacific Northwest - It's in our roots! Our values stem from our traditional English beginnings. Somerset is a historic cider-making region in the UK, and they've been perfecting the cider-making process for more than a thousand years. We bring that old-world approach to our current home - the epicenter of craft cider," the company said on Yelp.

5. Schilling Cider House & Gluten Free Kitchen

Portland's Schilling Cider House & Gluten Free Kitchen claimed the number five spot with a "world record-breaking" 50 craft cider taps, the company's Yelp profile said.

“Originally founded in Seattle, Washington, Schilling Cider captures the essence of the Pacific Northwest by creating ciders that are deliberately innovative, bold, and flavor forward. Schilling uses only 100% fresh pressed apples, locally sourced non-GMO ingredients, and individually hand-selected yeast strains to create a cider experience that is truly unique.”

Seasonal ciders include spiced chai, blackberry pear, and semi-sweet strawberry rhubarb.

6. Ale & Cider House

Established in 2015, West Linn's Ale & Cider House features 44 cider, wine, and beer taps in a traditional English pub setting.

The business said the cider house was founded “with the purpose of showcasing premier craft beer and cider from the Pacific Northwest and other selective parts of the world such as British style Cask Real Ale.”

Ale & Cider House has a variety of cider, including Queen Orchard's blueberry pie cider, pumpkin spice cider, and pomegranate cider.

7. Locust Cider

Locust Cider's Vancouver taproom, near Vancouver's Ester Short Park, offers a variety of hard cider, with seasonal flavors including strawberry mojito, watermelon, chai, and dark maple.

"Our goal is to make ciders that don’t just make you say “Yum, that’s good”. We want to make you say, “Hell yeah, that’s amazing!” the company says.

Established in 2015, Locust Cider specializes in small batch hard cider.

8. La Familia Cider

Salem's La Familia Cider scored the eighth spot on the list, with seasonal growlers including Bull Run Cider's snickerdoodle cider, backed apple cider, and Asian pear cider from Tumalo Cider.

“La Familia is a locally made cider inspired by traditional Mexican Aguas Frescas, with flavors that combine Oregon's new craft cider movement with Mexico's passion for fresh-fruit drinks,” the cider joint said on Yelp.

9. Stone Circle Cider

Estacada's Stone Circle Cider was ranked the ninth-best cidery of all time -- specializing in crafted farmhouse cider.

The cidery boasts a five-star Yelp rating, with previous seasonal offerings including hot mulled cider, blackberry sage, sour pear, and dry cranberry cider.

10. Bauman’s On Oak

Rounding out the top ten list: Portland's Bauman's on Oak.

The cidery also has a five-star Yelp rating, offering draft cider, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Bauman's cider tap list includes boysenberry lemonade, a barrel-aged Airlie red apple cider, and a loganberry cider.
