THINKING of upgrading to a premium mattress? Head to the Simba website.

The online brand has reduced the cost of the entire Simba Earth Apex range by 20% – this is a super-luxe mattress we’ve tried and tested ourselves.

Make no mistake: this is a top-of-the-range item with a price to match. But as an investment in your sleep quality, it’s hard to beat.

Unusually for a product from Simba, the Earth Apex is not a bed-in-a-box.

It comes flat and fully formed, so there’s no need to wait several hours for the mattress to fill out before using.

There’s no memory foam either, rather the cushioning is provided by layers of cashmere, organic silk, mohair and British wool together with a supportive layer of flax to cradle you in supreme comfort.

Below this, three spring layers – 2,500 titanium alloy Aerocoil micro springs on top of 2,500 high carbon steel micro springs and a base of 750 high carbon steel Quadcore springs – ensure optimal support and pressure relief for your spine, shoulders and hips.

In our Simba Apex Mattress Review our tester Aaron Dowler, who has had back pain on and off for the past decade, was suitably impressed.

“The medium firmness of the Apex provides just the right amount of support,” Aaron writes. “It’s not as soft as the Pro or the Hybrid but offers a firm, hug-of-a-mattress feel nonetheless.

“I felt supported and stable all night.”

With such a mega amount of springs you might expect there to be a little motion transfer, but there is none.

A combination of clever pocketing, as well as sonic welding in the Quadcore base, means springs move individually and there’s no ripple effect to disturb you or your partner.

The best mattresses provide premium support without stinting on comfort, which the Earth Apex delivers in abundance – and with cosiness built in.

Simba says its engineers “wanted to create a sensation of being very, very gently hugged”.

They appear to have succeeded. Our reviewer says it offers unparalleled comfort: “You can feel the difference these materials make in providing a plush yet supportive surface that encourages a restful and peaceful night’s sleep.”

Not only are wool, cashmere, mohair and silk celebrated for their softness and comfort, they’re also naturally thermoregulating, so keeping you warm when you’re cold and cool when you’re hot.

The wool and viscose cover is breathable and soft to the touch, enhancing your dream sleep, while the generous 30cm depth adds to the luxury experience and will help ensure the longevity of your mattress.

If you’re still wavering, Simba offers a 200-night trial and a 10-year guarantee, while the interest-free credit option spreads the cost over 12 months.

But don’t take too long, the 20% off deal only lasts until the end of September.
