ACC Releases SEC/ACC Challenge Times & Conference Openers
And there are some really interesting matchups in both
The ACC released the times and networks for the ACC/SEC Basketball Challenge on Monday and some of the matchups are pretty intriguing.
Duke of course hosts Auburn but some of the other games are really interesting. John Calipari brings Arkansas to Miami. Cal’s old school, Kentucky, is going to Clemson for the first time since 1933 and you know the Tiger faithful will be more than ready.
Alabama is at UNC, which could be fun, and Texas will be at NC State.
We’ll also be curious to see where Syracuse and Georgia Tech are as second-year coaches get a chance to excel on a big stage.
Then there are the ACC openers. Duke gets Louisville with new coach Pat Kelsey, who we believe is going to turn the Cardinals around in a big hurry. Virginia at SMU should be intriguing too since Andy Enfield is running that show now.
Seeing what Georgia Tech does at UNC is interesting too. Damon Stoudamire hasn’t done the traditional NBA-guy-who-knows-more-basketball-than-you approach. He’s paid his dues and he’s been recruiting well. That could be a fun one too.
Stanford at Cal seems like a wasted opportunity since that’s the first conference game. On the other hand, at least one of the three expansion schools won’t be in last place.
