Sail from Europe to the Caribbean with Second Star Sailing’s Atlantic Crossing

There’s a new way to sail to the Caribbean from Europe! Second Star Sailing, with bases in Pisa, Italy, and Jolly Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda, is now booking spaces for ‘The Crossing,’ the second of two legs connecting European sailors to the Caribbean this fall. The Crossing departs from Las Palmas de Gran Canarias, Spain, on November 17th, 2024, en route to Antigua.

Two-Stage Journey from Europe to the Caribbean

“As we prepare to reopen our Caribbean base, we are bringing our beloved Dufour 44, Surya Noctis, back to Antigua from the Med,” says Margarita ‘Margo’ Ogolceva of Second Star Sailing. Due to the length of the trip, it is divided into two stages.

The first stage, called ‘The Delivery,’ runs from Pisa to Las Palmas via Palmas de Mallorca, taking place from October 20 to November 10th. Afterward, ‘The Crossing’ departs from Las Palmas and heads to Antigua, offering sailors an exciting transatlantic adventure.

Gain Experience While Crossing the Atlantic

Second Star Sailing’s skilled instructors will be onboard as Skipper and First Mate, with room for 6 students. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to collect mileage or gain experience in a longer passage, as well as anyone who wants to sail to the Caribbean.

The Passage of a Lifetime

“The Atlantic Crossing is a great opportunity to collect about 3,000 nautical miles in the ocean. More importantly, you’ll learn all the details about planning a passage, following weather predictions, managing boat systems, and handling sail changes,” says Ogolceva. “It’s truly a passage of a lifetime.” After arriving in Antigua, many students stay to take further courses, such as RYA Yachtmaster, RYA Day Skipper, or Coastal Skipper certifications.
