FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Monday evening!
We've seen a little bit of rain back in Central Ohio to ring in the beginning of Fall. Going into the rest of this week, there is still a decent chance that we could see more rain than we have in the past month!
A low pressure center sitting off to our southeast will gradually move into the area through Tuesday. Tonight, we'll see a few isolated showers, with more widespread activity to start off the day tomorrow. We're primarily looking at rain for Tuesday morning, but could still see a few rumbles of thunder.
After a brief lull in the rain for the late morning & early afternoon, more on & off chances for rain and storms will return for Tuesday evening. During this time, we could see some stronger storms develop with a 1/5 risk for severe weather across Central Ohio. The main concern will be gusty to damaging winds with lower end threats of moderate sized hail and an isolated spin-up tornado.
There's a small dry stretch that settles in for the second half of the week, allowing temperatures to bump back into the mid to lower 80s. But, looking ahead to the weekend, we could see some spotty showers move in that play off of what is developing in the Caribbean at the moment.
What is likely to become Helene, a tropical system will strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico through the middle of the week. After landfall, it will likely follow a due north to northwest track, putting Central Ohio in line to see some spotty showers over the weekend into early next week.
