Man from Capital Region identified as Va. homicide victim
HIGHLAND SPRINGS, Va. (NEWS10) -- A 30-year-old man, who grew up in the Capital Region, has been identified as the victim of a homicide in Virginia.
According to the obituary for James Lawitz, he graduated from Voorheesville High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He excelled in multiple sports, especially football. He worked as a youth sports coach and teacher.
Police in Virginia said Lawitz was found dead on September 15 in a yard in Highland Springs, Va., just outside Richmond. Police said Troy Vincent Charran, Jr., 18, of Virginia, was arrested and charged with second degree murder.
