School merger process halted after vote
JOHNSBURG, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Johnsburg and Minerva boards of education voted Monday on whether to move forward with a plan to combine the two districts into one. A feasibility study was presented to both boards last week.
Both boards heard comments from community members before deciding whether to allow a straw vote. The merger drew reactions from parents, staff and students in both districts.
In the end, both districts took a vote on whether to continue the process. While Johnsburg voted yes, Minerva unanimously voted no, which has put a stop to the process.
