Canada's Competition Tribunal imposes $39 mln penalty on Cineplex

Cineplex has been ordered to pay nearly $39 million after the Competition Tribunal found it engaged in deceptive marketing by adding a mandatory $1.50 online booking fee. The penalty covers the period from June 2022 to December 2023. Cineplex plans to appeal the decision but will continue offering the service.
