Tanguy Ndombele appears to have finally turned a corner, with reports from France praising the former Tottenham man for his displays for Nice.

Ndombele left Spurs by mutual consent

Tottenham’s decision to terminate the year left in Ndombele’s contract this summer did not come as a surprise as not only had the midfielder failed to live up to expectations at Spurs but he had also struggled to make any impact during his loan spells.

However, the 27-year-old appears to have worked on his fitness and is finally showing signs of starting to live up to his potential at Nice.

The Frenchman has played 431 minutes across five matches so far and scored his first goal for his new side in their 8-0 drubbing of Saint-Etienne on Friday.

Ndombele is finally thriving at Nice

On the back of that performance, Saturday’s print edition of Le Figaro (as relayed by Sport Witness) stated that it was the midfielder’s best showing since his summer move.

The report says that Ndombele’s performance on Friday ‘confirms his return to form’ and claims that the good environment at Nice ‘suits him’.

This has also been backed up by RMC Sport, who assert that the former Spurs man has ‘quickly dispelled doubts about his physical conditions’ since signing for Franck Haise’s side in the summer.

It is still early days for Ndombele at Nice and it would thus not be wise to jump to conclusions as we have seen many false dawns with the midfielder.

However, if it is the case that the penny has dropped for the Frenchman and he is now driven to prove his critics wrong, then it is about time. The former Lyon man has too much talent to allow his career to drift into obscurity.
