Meet India’s highest tax paying celebrity, it’s not Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman, Kohli, Dhoni, Tendulkar, Rajinikanth
In India, many celebrities pay the highest taxes and contribute to the economy. For the year 2024, India’s top film stars and athletes have paid crores of Rs income taxes which highlight not just their immense earnings but their influence and status in society. These tax figures show the entertainment and sports sectors are a major source of government’s income and the flow of money in these industries.
ICMI has released the list of High tax paying celebrities FY24 for this year. The list is dominated by many of the top bollywood celebrities and also sports athletes. The list has prominent faces but it will also surprise with few unexpected names in the highest tax payers list.
Not Salman Khan, Amitabh, This Bollywood Actor Paid Highest Taxes
Did you know the person who paid the highest taxes for FY24 is not Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Rajinikanth but it’s none other than Bollywood’s ‘King Khan’ Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan topped the list by paying the highest tax of Rs 92 crore. His continued dominance by not just from his blockbuster films but also from his endorsements and business ventures, making him one of the most significant contributors to the Indian economy.
Surprisingly the 2nd position is not held by the Bollywood celebrity but South Indian Cinema star Vijay who has paid highest taxes with 80 Crores Rs.
Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Virat Kohli, M.S. Dhoni Ranking
Salman Khan, holds the third position in highest tax payers celebrities list, who contributed Rs 75 crore. His popularity at the box office keep him financially successful.
Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan also made his mark, paying Rs 71 crore in taxes, who holds 4th rank in the list. Despite being in the industry for over five decades, Bachchan’s earnings from films, brand endorsements, and television show he remains a powerful economic force.
Virat Kohli who is on the 6th position who paid 66 crores taxes, following him is another famous bollywood celebrity Ajay Devgn who paid Rs. 42 crores taxes this year. India’s favorite cricket star M.S. Dhoni paid Rs. 38 crore taxes and held 7th Position.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar paid Rs 28 crore.
South Indian Stars : Vijay, Allu Arjun, and Mohanlal Tax Contribution
Bollywood isn’t the only powerhouse in Indian cinema—stars from the South Indian film industry are making their presence felt on the tax charts. Tamil superstar Vijay, or ‘Thalapathy,’ paid Rs 80 crore, reflecting the growing influence of regional cinema in India’s entertainment landscape.
Telugu cinema’s ‘Stylish Star’ Allu Arjun also made a notable contribution, paying Rs 14 crore. Similarly, Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal paid Rs 14 crore, demonstrating that regional cinema has serious financial muscle.
Similarly, proving that his relevance and financial success have endured well beyond his playing career.
Ranbir Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and More
The next generation of Bollywood stars is also contributing significantly to the economy. Ranbir Kapoor, with his blend of box office hits and endorsements, paid Rs 36 crore in taxes, reflecting his growing financial clout in the industry.
Kiara Advani, one of the leading stars in recent years, made a notable contribution of Rs 12 crore, while actors like Shahid Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, and Pankaj Tripathi also paid substantial sums
Kapil Sharma, Sourav Ganguly, and Others
India’s top comedian, Kapil Sharma, paid Rs 26 crore, showing the financial potential of comedy and television in the country’s entertainment ecosystem. Former cricketer and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly also contributed Rs 23 crore, proving that post-retirement financial success is becoming more common among sports stars.
