Swell fading away
Hello Friends,
The long period south energy peaked yesterday morning and has now moved around to the SE (which is good) but it was down to a metre at 11 seconds as of 0600. That means long waits for waist to maybe chest high bomb sets at optimally aligned locations. Dee Why did not appear to be such a spot, although there were a few hopefuls just north of the club when I took the snaps. Otherwise it’s a another corker of a morning out there, so if you have time to hunt around and you don’t need much of an excuse to jump in…
The Bureau tells us that the swell heights should bump up again tomorrow, but the models are showing only short period, straight south energy, so I’m only moderately hopeful that it’ll be an improvement on this morning’s offerings. Depending on the wind, Wednesday morning might possibly be a little more interesting, but by afternoon the cloudy and showery weather should be with us from then on into early next week. Surfwise Thursday and Friday currently are predicted to be dead south in the 3-ish metre range with sub-10 second periods. There may possibly be something in the protected south corners, but it won’t be anything like 3 metres.
We could be waiting until next week for our next sunny and fun conditions to appear.
Go well with your Monday!
Weather Situation
A series of cold fronts and troughs will pass to the south over the next few days, bringing bursts of fresh to strong westerly winds to southern and central waters. A high pressure system is forecast to cross the state and reach the Tasman Sea today, with winds turning northeasterly ahead of a cold front that looks set to cross the state mid to late next week.
