Guglielmo Vicario thinks one Tottenham teammate deserves more credit

Guglielmo Vicario is singing the praises of Brennan Johnson, admitting that everyone in the Spurs dressing room was over the moon when the winger scored the winger against Coventry City.

Brennan Johnson has come under fire

It has been well documented that Johnson has had a difficult couple of weeks, with the youngster deciding to deactivate his Instagram account in light of the intense criticism he was receiving online for his performances.

The Tottenham man responded to that episode in perfect fashion, coming on as a substitute against Coventry City and netting a stoppage-time winner to send the Lilywhites to the next round.

However, the 23-year-old’s celebration after the full-time whistle was quite subdued on the back of what had happened before, although the travelling Spurs fans cheered and applauded him.

To silence his critics even more, the Spurs winger then put his side ahead against Brentford this weekend with a lovely finish into the bottom left corner, before celebrating with his finger on his lips.

Ange Postecoglou has backed Johnson to come through this difficult spell and confidently asserted that the former Nottingham Forest will prove a success at the club (Football.London).

Vicario says Brennan Johnson deserves more credit

It is now the turn of Vicario to back his teammate, describing the winger as ‘amazing’ and praising the commitment that he has shown.

The Tottenham number one told Sky Sports: “I think Brennan is an amazing guy. He deserves everything.

“When he scored in the cup everyone, back in the meeting, everyone was screaming with joy because of his goal, so he deserves a lot of credit.

“He’s an amazing talent, an amazing winger, but first of all, he’s a very good guy. His behaviour, his commitment is always top. We’re very happy for him.”

One can tell from the reaction to this whole episode that Johnson is extremely popular in the Spurs changing room. The 23-year-old seems like a great guy and can never be accused of not giving his all, which is why it is hard to fathom where he is receiving such intense criticism.
