Kodai Senga Pitches Scoreless Inning in Rehab Outing

0

Kodai Senga is one step closer to helping the Mets in their pennant chase.

The right-hander had a rehab outing in the Syracuse Mets finale Friday night. He opened the game, recording two strikeouts and a walk in a scoreless inning. Senga topped out at 95 miles per hour and threw 15 pitches.

The outing was a net positive for Senga, who looks to help the Mets in their final week of the season. Senga previously stated that he wanted to be”100 percent” before coming back to the Mets and this positive outing trends toward Senga making his next start Friday against the Brewers.

Senga has had a rollercoaster of a season, much like the Mets as a whole. He was out through the first half, made a stellar start against the Braves July 26, but injured himself again while pitching.

If he’s able to return, Senga would jolt a Mets rotation that has been carried by the likes of Sean Manaea and David Peterson for the better half of the season. It would also be miraculous as Senga would return from a second sizeable injury.
