Malcolm Pein, “Elections of EDC chairman are a farce!”
The first voting for EDC chairman recorded abnormal 220 votes out of 170 delegates eligible to vote. The live broadcast was (surprisingly?) and Malcolm Pein from the English Chess Federation reported, “The actual vote recorded from what I was told was Persaud 110 Florea 64 Tolbaev 40 220 votes for 170 delegates eligible to vote. A farce @iocmedia,” concludes Malcolm Pein, notifying the IOC official account.
Earlier Malcolm Pein protested the undemocratic procedures at FIDE, “This is a very important post. Maybe the most important post in the organization. And it is not a good look for us if the members of the General Assembly cannot ask questions to the candidates, particularly when we have received their CVs less than 24h before the meeting. It really looks bad.” See the full elections story here
