By Rene Bonsubre, Jr
CARCAR CITY, CEBU, PHILIPPINES - Jemuel Arañas pounced Charlie Malupangue right after the opening bell and dropped him in less than a minute. Referee Nic Banal seeing Malupangue was in no shape to continue, waived off the fight at the 55 second mark of the first.
Arañas bounced back from his stoppage loss to Roderick Bautista last June in Passi City and is now 5-1, 3 KO’s. Malupangue sinks to his eighth straight loss.
In an action packed supporting main bout, Junibert Bantay (5-0, 1KO ) got a hard earned majority decision against Reycar Auxilio (6-4-1,5 KO’s) after eight rounds. It was a give and take tussle which went to the judges’ scorecards – Don Yballe – 77-75, Michael Espinosa – 78-74 and Edwin Barrientos – 76-76.
In another barn burner, Joperson Trazo (2-0-1,1KO) stopped a gritty Kasty Flores Flores (3-2, 2 KO's) in five rounds. Flores was dropped in the opening canto but continued to make a fight out of it. Trazo however, had the power edge over the defensively deficient Flores who was eventually decked again in the fifth prompting the stoppage.
Jeffre Jimenez (2-0, 1 KO) won his second pro bout by knocking out Daniel Empis (0-2) with a body blow in round one. For the rest of the card - Leonard Pores beat George Sedillo by unanimous verdict after six rounds, Vicente Unidos stopped Mell Beronio also with a body shot in round one, Aldren Aton and Norman Rusiana fought to a majority draw and in the opening bout, Emje Felicilda got a unanimous verdict against Carlo Condes .
The card was held at the Perrelos Gym in Carcar City and promoted by Chao Sy Promotions.
