Knockout to face Collazo in unification in November?

0
Earlier this month we saw WBA Minimumweight "super" champion Knockout CP Freshmart (25-0, 9) [AKA Thammanoon Niyomtrong] return to the ring after being out of action for more than 2 years, as he defeated Australian challenger Alex Winwood (4-1, 2). Now it’s been reported by @FrankiePinero that the Thai is set for another fight before the year is out, with Knockout set to face WBO champion Oscar Collazo (10-0, 7) on November 16th in Riyadh.

It should be noted that if this becomes a reality, it has been put together at relatively short notice, with Collazo originally expected to defend his WBO title on the show against Mexican challenger Edwin Cano Hernandez (13-2-1, 4). That bout was announced, though the speculation is that Cano has dropped out of the fight so that we could have a WBA/WBO unification bout instead, and will likely be first in line to face the winner in the new year and get a shot at not just a single belt but both of them.

It’s worth noting that, at the time of writing, there is no news regarding the fight from Thailand, with the last news regarding the Thai being that he attended a special event last week to celebrate his birthday and his 12th world title defense, doing so in Surin Province in Thailand. However that’s not to say the bout hasn’t been agreed and won’t be reported in the Thai press in the coming days.
