I went to the salon to go blonde & was left sobbing at the results – people think I can only save it with a pixie cut
MANY people have experienced a hair nightmare in their time, but one woman was left sobbing after having a bleach job.
She shared how she wanted to go blonde, but instead her hair had started to fall out.
A woman was left in tears after getting her hair bleached in a salon[/caption]While some strands were still long, she had huge patches of shorter tufts.
On her @morganpaigecarter account, she was in tears as she wrote: “Can someone help me find someone who can fix this?”
The unfortunate woman said it had happened after she visited a salon for a chemical job.
She said: “I know you’re going to come for me and say, ‘Why not just shave it off?’
“But my hair is my comfort blanket. I didn’t realise how much I depended on it until I had none.
“Imagine trying to look cute or going out for a nice dinner, and you have to figure out how to fix this situation so it’s presentable.
“This has been my life for the last four and a half months, which is why I haven’t shaved it off or done a pixie cut.
“My hair is my comfort blanket. I tried to get every product to make it look presentable and hide it, but it still looks horrible.”
She shared how she tried wearing a wig to cover up the patches, but it didn’t go down well.
Morgan added: “I tried a good old-fashioned wig, but it made me look like I just stepped out of the Brady Bunch, so that was a no.
“I put my hair up in a messy bun and call it a day.
“But yeah, most of the time I’m wearing a hat.”
Sadly, her hair has had an effect on her self esteem.
Morgan wrote: “I was told to let it grow out before trying to fix it.
“I think it’s finally almost long enough for extensions.”
How can I fix dye damaged hair?
Have you taken the dye too far? There are some ways to fix this WITHOUT chopping the whole lot off.
- Give it a trim: we’re not saying you have to cut the whole lot off, but you should trim the worst offending split ends.
- Ditch the heat products: stop straightening/curling your hair immediately.
- Stop dying your hair: step away from the bleach, and starting using ammonia-free semi-permanent dyes for now.
- Switch to sulfate free: use kinder, sulfate-free shampoos and conditions to repair your damaged hair. And don’t shampoo more than twice a week if possible, because this strips damaged hair and makes it brittle.
- Treatment masks: use one of these hair treatment masks, listed below, to rejuvenate your locks.
- Sun protection: cover your damaged hair when sunbathing or swimming in a chlorinated pool, to prevent further damage.
- Eat your hair healthy: make sure you drink lots of water, eat Omega 3 fatty acids found in salmon, walnuts and flaxseeds, and green veg like spinach, kale, carrots and avocado. Some pre-natal supplements also promote hair growth.
Many people were kind and supportive in the comments, and some shared their own advice.
One wrote: “hairstylist for over a decade. you got a chemical cut. pixie and start over. get yourself some wigs if you hate the pixie.
“So sorry this happened to you.”
A second added: “Your face can totally rock the pixie cut!”
And a third commented: “Whoever did this to you needs their licence revoked. I’m so sorry!!!!”
