'So explosive': Erik ten Hag says 50-touch star was 'unbelievable' for United vs Crystal Palace
Manchester United played out a disappointing 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils had plenty of chances to score in the opening half, but they were unable to break the deadlock.
Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes rattled the woodwork while goalkeeper Dean Henderson pulled off multiple top-class saves.
Palace were the much better side after the hour mark and United could have easily lost the game if not for Andre Onana’s heroics.
The Cameroonian star made a fantastic double save to deny Eddie Nketiah and Ismaila Sarr in the 65th minute at Selhurst Park.
Onana also made another two saves in the game. He had 50 touches and an 83 percent passing accuracy.
Erik ten Hag praised Onana after the game. He told BBC Match of the Day: “Unbelievable save, Andre is so explosive. He’s such a great stopper. It’s twice in one action.
“We all see now how good he is. His reactions are so good. He’s so quick, and we saw that with the save in the second half.”
United have dropped into the bottom half of the league table after their goalless draw in London.
They are currently 11th in the standings with seven points, three adrift of the Champions League spots.
That gap will increase if Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion or Nottingham Forest win today.
United have had a below-par start to the campaign and need to step up in the coming weeks.
The club will be in Europa League action against FC Twente in midweek before hosting Tottenham Hotspur in the league on Sunday.
The Spurs game at Old Trafford appears a must-win for United. Any other result could lead to questions over Ten Hag’s position.
