Priest accused of stealing gold ornaments from temple deity in Karnataka

A priest at the Gangolli Kharvikeri Shri Mahankali Temple has been accused of stealing gold ornaments meant for the deity. Appointed in May, the priest allegedly replaced genuine gold with counterfeit items, misappropriating 264 grams of gold worth Rs 21.12 lakh. A case has been registered against him.
