Off-duty Louisiana State Trooper cited after getting into fight at LSU game
BATON ROUGE, La. (KLFY) -- An off-duty Louisiana State Trooper was charged with battery following a fight at today's LSU vs. UCLA football game, authorities said.
During the game, police responded to a disturbance in the stands and discovered that a physical altercation occurred between the off-duty trooper and two men. Further investigation revealed that the off-duty trooper, identified as 30-year-old Artellus Bellard of Lake Charles, initiated the physical battery following a verbal argument, officials said.
Bellard, assigned to State Police Troop D patrol since 2021, was charged with two counts of simple battery and released on a summons with a pending court date.
No further information is available at this time, pending the completion of the criminal and administrative process.
