8 Pakistani soldiers killed in clash with militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Pakistani media have reported that at least 8 soldiers were killed in clashes with militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported on Saturday, September 21, quoting security officials, that eight Pakistani soldiers were killed in a militant attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the report, militants and Pakistani forces clashed in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Dawn report highlighted that the clashes occurred in the regions of Ladha in South Waziristan, Spinwam in North Waziristan, and Bannu.
Details reveal that in Ladha, South Waziristan, a group of militants attacked a security forces checkpoint, resulting in the deaths of six soldiers and five militants.
Meanwhile, the Dawn newspaper also reported that earlier on Thursday night, a security official was killed, and two others were injured in cross-border firing by Afghan forces.
Faisal Karim Kundi, the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stated about two weeks ago that the province is in a critical state, grappling with terrorism and extremism.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been targeting military and government installations in Pakistan for years. Islamabad accuses the Afghan Taliban of harboring these militants and allowing them to cross the Durand Line repeatedly, though the Afghan Taliban deny these accusations.
The ongoing instability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa highlights the persistent challenges Pakistan faces with terrorism and cross-border militancy, raising concerns over regional security and the need for stronger counterterrorism measures.
