Scott Previews Glasgow City Clash

0

Hibs Women Head Coach Grant Scott spoke ahead of our away SWPL match against Glasgow City on Sunday (22 September).

Hibs Women dispatched their previous opponents Queen's Park in a 6-1 thrashing last weekend, but Scott stated there was still room for improvement.

Looking forward to playing at Petershill Park - where the team secured a dramatic 2-2 draw near the end of last season - The Gaffer said that the team would have to remain clinical and concise when gifted an opening opportunity.

"City have recruited well and got a bit of pace about them. They’re quite prone to hit on the counter and play football that’s easy on the eye.

"We like to think of ourselves as evenly matched against Glasgow City and are in part of the area of the league we want to be pushing for.

"I don’t think we’re going to have as many opportunities to score and hurt Glasgow City as we did against Queen's Park. When we get those chances, we have to be more clinical.

"We conceded quite a sloppy goal [versus Queen's Park]. Universally as a team there wasn’t an individual error. We have to be tighter there. If we perform, everything takes care of itself.

"When the chances come, we have to be more clinical. That’s what I’ll be looking out for."

The manager also issued an injury update on Kirsten Reilly, Rachael Boyle and Rosie Livingstone ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

"Kirsten at this stage is 50/50. She’s going to be a key player for us this season, but there’s still plenty of football to play after this game, so we need to leave that until the last minute.

"Rosie and Rachael are back on the pitch this week at training and that’s been really pleasing.

"Both have done a heck of a lot of work and have equipped themselves very well given how long they’ve been out for.

"It genuinely will feel like having two new signings in the building. They’ve given the squad a real lift."
