Rangers RHP Max Scherzer's season done (hamstring)

Texas Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, bringing his injury-plagued season to an end with the Rangers out of playoff contention.

Scherzer, 40, had been scheduled to start Saturday night's game against the visiting Seattle Mariners. Right-hander Dane Dunning (4-7, 5.38 ERA) will start in his place.
