There was every sign of this being a typical White Sox loss: five hits, 12 Ks (although to be fair, two homers!), 1-for-8 with RISP. But just like that, Lenyn Sosa gave the White Sox and (pretty comically) stunned the Petco Park crowd into utter silence with a two-run game-evener on a full count and two outs:
Keeping the White Sox and their amazing, late good fortune alive was an end to regulation that saw Luis Arráez scream a line drive into an inning-ending double play.
But in the 10th, Fernando Tatís Jr. put the White Sox to sleep with a leadoff double to end it.
The White Sox now stand three losses from a “modern” record and need to go 3-5 from here to avoid a share of the worst record since 1899.
