DOJ Usec Jesse Andres named OIC of Energy Regulatory Commission

MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has designated Justice Undersecretary Jesse Hermogenes Andres as the officer-in-charge chairperson and chief executive officer of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced Andres’ appointment in a memo dated Friday, September 20, which was posted by the Presidential Communications Office on social media on Saturday, September 21.

Andres’ appointment is effective immediately.

The appointment comes after Ombudsman Samuel Martires earlier this month ordered the preventive suspension of ERC chair Monalisa Dimalanta over alleged grave misconduct, grave abuse of authority, and conduct prejudicial to public service. She is appealing the suspension.

Andres is the executive director of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking. He was also involved in Department of Justice events involving human rights and drug policy reform.

Andres was formerly a board member of Benguet Corporation, a metal mining services company, and president of the Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association. – Rappler.com
