iPhone 16 is out and I’ve spotted three deals I’d buy today – but the best Apple offer so far is on an older model
NOW that Apple’s new iPhone is out, you might well be thinking about buying one.
I’ve been using them for a while now – read my iPhone 16 review – and I’ve spotted some cracking deals you might want to snap up.
The Sun’s tech guru Sean Keach has been trying out the new iPhone models[/caption]In The Sun’s official review, we awarded top marks with a 5/5 score for the new model – with my personal favourite being the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
WHAT IS THE IPHONE 16?
Apple unveiled four new iPhone models on September 9 at its Glowtime event.
They are the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
All four have an Action Button that you can assign to do almost any function on your phone – as well as a Camera Control for, well, controlling the camera.
They’re powered by the new Apple A18 chip (or A18 Pro on the Pro and Pro Max), which offers spectacular performance.
But importantly, the A18 chips also help the iPhone serve up tremendous battery life.
In fact Apple reckons the iPhone 16 Pro Max can deliver a ludicrous 33 hours of video playback on a single charge.
I was extremely impressed with battery performance in my review, so these new phones are a tempting upgrade if you haven’t bought a new iPhone in a while.
IPHONE 16 DEALS – THREE TEMPTING DEALS
The first deal I’ve had my eye on is on the iPhone 16 with iD Mobile.
It’s owned by Currys and it piggybacks on Three’s network.
This particular deal gets you 100GB of 5G data each month, plus unlimited minutes and texts.
It’s a 24-month contract for £35.99 a month – with a £99 fee upfront.
That means you’re paying £863.76 over two years (plus £99, so £962.76), which is only slightly higher than the £799 cost of the handset.
So you’re effectively paying just £6.83 a month for the cell service when you subtract the price of the iPhone 16 from the total cost above.

Another great deal is Vodafone’s offer on the iPhone 16 Pro.
This gets you 300GB of data plus unlimited minutes and texts for £44 a month.
The upfront fee is £195, bringing the total two-year cost to £1,251.
This iPhone normally retails for £999, so the difference is £252.
That works out at just over a tenner a month for the value of the cell service on top of the money you’d be paying for the phone. And it’s a hefty amount of data.

But if you’re a real gadget obsessive, you’ll want the top model with unlimited data.
IPHONE 16 PRICES – HOW MUCH ARE YOU PAYING?
Here's what you need to know...
iPhone 16:
- 128GB: £799 (UK) / $799 (US)
- 256GB: £899 (UK) / $899 (US)
- 512GB: £1,099 (UK) / $1,099 (US)
iPhone 16 Plus:
- 128GB: £899 (UK) / $899 (US)
- 256GB: £999 (UK) / $999 (US)
- 512GB: £1,199 (UK) / $1,199 (US)
iPhone 16 Pro:
- 128GB: £999 (UK) / $999 (US)
- 256GB: £1,099 (UK) / $1,099 (US)
- 512GB: £1,299 (UK) / $1,299 (US)
- 1TB: £1,499 (UK) / $1,499 (US)
iPhone 16 Pro Max:
- 256GB: £1,199 (UK) / $1,199 (US)
- 512GB: £1,399 (UK) / $1,399 (US)
- 1TB: £1,599 (UK) / $1,599 (US)
And for that, I’d say to look at Vodafone’s £59-a-month fee on the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
It costs £100 upfront, but you’ll get unlimited 5G data, minutes, and texts.
Over 24 months, you’ll be paying £1,516.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max itself would normally cost £1,199 – so that’s a difference of £317.
So that works out at about £13 a month extra for the cell service. Not bad when you consider it’s unlimited 5G.

OLDER IPHONE DEAL YOU SHOULDN’T IGNORE
Of course you don’t necessarily need the latest iPhone model.
There are loads of great deals on older devices that you might want to snap up instead.
One of the best deals I’ve seen is an iD Mobile offer on last year’s iPhone 15.
You can bag it for £29.99 with a £69 upfront fee – getting you a fairly generous 500GB of data.

Of course all of the retailers are battling it out for your hard-earned cash right now.
So you might find that prices drop on older models even more as the networks race to get rid of their stock.
And don’t forget: we’ll probably see some great iPhone deals around Black Friday 2024, so it might be worth hanging on until then.
All prices in this article were correct at the time of writing, but may have since changed.
