'This is not funny, ok?' Bill Maher dresses down his own HBO audience

HBO comedian Bill Maher reprimanded his own audience on Friday night after the crowd laughed at the big story of the week — a second Trump assassination plot.

Kicking off "Real Time," the comedian told his audience, "Let's not bury the lede: the big story this week is they tried to shoot Trump again. It's not —"

As Maher begins to say, "It's not funny," an audience member audibly giggles, prompting Maher's gaze.

"It's not funny," he continues. But the audience couldn't quite tell if Maher was joking. The crowd collectively laughed a second time.

"Ok," laughed Maher, to more laughs. "I'm being serious now this is the second time this has happened. I've said this before. There can be no fuzz on this. This is not funny, ok? It's not ok. It's not ok to wish it happened."

But an audience member chuckles again, prompting Maher's jaw to drop.

The comedian, in disbelief, chuckles to himself.

"Well this is a problem," said Maher, to more laughs.

Maher continued talking about the assassination plot, noting the suspect in the latest incident was lying in wait on the golf course at Mar-A-Lago.

"This happens too frequently," said Maher. "This happened on the golf course. The guy was laying in wait. And this happens too much. In fact, besides the shooter, there were two other shooters beside him waiting to play through."

This time the crowd laughed, finally getting the joke.
