Is your child in the proper car seat for their age, weight and height?

VERMILION PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- For National Child Passenger Safety Week, car seat check stations will be open across Louisiana tomorrow to ensure parents are using the right car seats for their children and that seats are installed correctly.
In Acadiana, a car seat check will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana. The address is 301 A.A. Comeaux Memorial Drive in Abbeville.
This is a free event.
According to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, it is estimated that 96% of all child restraints are installed incorrectly.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that 39% of children killed in car crashes in 2022 were unrestrained. On average, three children under 13 were killed and 429 were injured in vehicles each day in 2022, NHTSA said on its website.
