Mayor Adams isn't 'matching the moment,' NYC public advocate says
NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams said Mayor Eric Adams is not doing enough to restore public trust in city government amid the controversies and investigations surrounding his administration.
Earlier this month, the FBI raided the homes of multiple top aides to the mayor. Last week, Edward Caban resigned from his position as NYPD commissioner amid a federal investigation involving alleged corruption.
Williams said there is a “crisis of confidence” in the New York City government right now, and Adams hasn't done enough to dispel the public's concerns.
“I don’t feel like the mayor is matching the moment we’re in,” Williams said. “We need a full-on message from the mayor acknowledging the crisis of confidence and say, ‘Here’s the plan that I have to restore trust.’”
