Democrats slam Trump for ties to ‘perv’ candidate for governor
The Democratic Party announced on Friday that it is launching a new advertising campaign highlighting the relationship between Donald Trump and embattled North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson.
Robinson, the Republican nominee in that state’s gubernatorial race, allegedly made bigoted and inflammatory posts on an online pornography forum, according to a CNN report. The posts attributed to Robinson said, “I’m a black NAZI!” and described Civil Rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. as a “commie bastard,” “phony,” “huckster,” and “worse than a maggot.”
The account also used bigoted slurs referring to transgender people, gay people, Jews, and Muslims.
Trump has yet to respond publicly on Robinson since the CNN report. NBC reported that the Democrats will put up nearly a dozen billboards and digital ads recounting the lavish praise that Trump has had for Robinson in the past. The digital ads will target North Carolina voters via Facebook and YouTube.
