Kamala Harris Says Anyone Breaking Into Her Home Is ‘Getting Shot’
Oprah Winfrey is known for cracking the façades of even her toughest subjects. On Thursday, she seemed to have a surprisingly easy time getting Kamala Harris to go off the cuff with just 45 days until the election. During their sit-down at the Unite for America rally, Winfrey asked Harris to elaborate on her support for the Second Amendment, which she discussed during last week’s debate. But the conversation quickly veered away from the expected talking points when Harris, reminding Oprah that she and Tim Walz are both gun owners, said: “If somebody breaks into my house, they’re getting shot.”

Harris laughed before catching herself: “I’m sorry. Probably should not have said that.” Still laughing, she added: “My staff will deal with that later.”
While the comment came under the guise of two friends gabbing, the encounter provided a brief uncensored look at the typically buttoned-up candidate. It isn’t the first time Harris has talked about owning a firearm. According to CNN, she revealed that she owned a gun in 2019 during her first run for president. One of Harris’s aides told the outlet that she keeps a pistol “that could fit in a small purse” securely stored in her Los Angeles home. At the time, she told reporters in Iowa that her decision to purchase a gun was one of “personal safety.” She also mentioned her gun at the debate after Donald Trump insisted Harris “wants to confiscate your guns.”
Seems like she definitely wants to make sure no one thinks she’s in favor of that. During Thursday’s livestream — which was attended by celebrities like Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and J.Lo — Harris reiterated that she is in favor of the Second Amendment and has no intentions of taking “everyone’s guns away” but, rather, that she supports assault-weapon bans, universal background checks, and red-flag laws, which she called “common sense.”
Do with that information what you will. And remember: Never drop your guard around Oprah Winfrey.
